Causes of Dark Circles
Treatments of Dark Circles
Internal hydration is really important for removing dark circles. Drinking more water may increase your blood flow efficiency to help carry toxins out of the body. This would support the transport of toxins through the kidneys and liver, preventing them from traveling to cells all over the body. Drinking water also helps the body flush waste from individual cells, keeping skin healthy and glowing and helps in lightening dark circles. Avoiding things like coffee, alcohol or excessive amounts of salt and sodium intake is a good idea because these substances can make total body hydration more difficult to obtain.
Sunblock is must..!!
“Sometimes dark circles are caused by increased pigment, either from rubbing or from sun damage,” says Rachel Nazarian, a dermatologist in New York City. “The best treatment for this includes topical lightening agents such as vitamin C, kojic acid, and licorice extract. These ingredients help decrease skin pigmentation over time, ultimately resulting in the lightening of the dark circles.” And you must wear sunscreen at least spf 30 daily.
Use a Retinoid based Eye Cream
“With repeated use, retinol can stimulate the production of collagen, making the skin less thin and improving the dark circles. They are easy to find at the drugstore,” says Rachel Nazarian, a dermatologist in New York City. Dermalogica’s Retinoid cream is really effective. “Retinoids assits to rebuild dermal collagen under the skin and thereby contribute to vascular support in the area which results in skin volume and firmness,” adds Patricia Ceballos, a dermatologist in New Rochelle, New York. Almond oil can also be used for treating dark circles as it is rich in vitamin A and it can be helpful in lightening dark circles. You can apply almond oil in light layer under eyes before gong to bed for intense hydration and lightening effect.
Sleep on your back and use an extra pillow
Due to fluid retention by sleeping on flat pillow make eyes dark, usually only in the morning when you awake up. So try to sleep on your back with an extra pillow so that fluid doesn’t pool overnight under eyes. Sleeping 7 to 8 hours on same time everyday as a routine is extremely important for reducing and avoiding dark circles.
Remove eye make up very gently
As eye area is really sensitive. Under eye skin is thinnest around 0.5mm so any trauma or irritation can cause skin inflammation,” says Joshua Zeichner, the director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. “If you are using a make up remover wipes try to use fragrance free. First hold the wipe on eye pressing gently for 20 seconds then wipe at right side in one single stroke do not rub aggressively as it can damage or tear the skin deep.
Use vitamin C and vitamin K based under eye cream
Vitamin C boosts your skin’s collagen production to give you firmer, more plump skin and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. The antioxidant properties of vitamin C help fight free radicals and alter the damage caused by UV radiation. The cosmetic platform has developed hundreds of creams and serums that contain vitamin K, for treating the dark circles. The antioxidants present in vitamin K , help to repair the damaged skin and also improve the poor circulation of blood around the eyes.
